I had a significant weight gain because of several medical problems, all of which contributed to a loss of energy and mobility with the result I was unable to exercise. With medical assistance I finally managed to maintain a good life style compromise even with my medical conditions.
Then I was advised that there was a high risk of developing type 2 diabeties.
It was the straw that broke the camels back, I ended up crying in the surgery. I was overweight, I felt FAT, I looked FAT, I had to buy larger clothes constantly as my weight increased. It was just too much.
Then Dr Henley suggested I follow his Six Goal-den rules.
At first I missed the sugar and the carbs, but by following the menus supplied by Sharon King his nutritionist https://whatyouwerenevertold.com/meal-plan/ and sourcing others recipes via Google and recipe books, I also found great alternatives. Cauliflower rice and zoodles replaced high carb rice and pasta, stuffed capsicum and salmon with baby asparagus are now two of my favourite recipes and are tasty, healthy and nutritious, with low or no carbs and sugar. The more recipes I tried the less I missed my old food life style.
And the weight reduced. I decided that a regular sustained loss over a period of time, was best for me, so I tried to average 500g per week, this was very achievable. I weighed every day, some weeks you don’t quite make your goal, some weeks you are over, dont be disheartened, keep in mind your long term weight goal is what you are aiming for.
I wanted to reach 20kg loss for my birthday, but didn’t quite make it, but the good thing is you can adjust your goals, so I will reach the 20kg loss within the next 2 months. There is so much satisfaction in seeing a good result.
Starting weight: 92.3kg
Current weight: 75.2kg
Total loss: 17.1kg
The amazing thing was by reducing my weight it has helped with my other conditions, I am breathing better, I have increased my activities, and of course I looked so much better as well and found I had a whole wardrobe of clothes I could now fit into.
I can highly recommend Dr. Henley’s book, What You We’re Never Told.
